Huîtres Gillardeau
the benchmark since 1898

L'une des valeurs de la Maison Gillardeau : La gravure

THE HISTORY OF MAISON GILLARDEAU

Founded in 1898 by Henri Gillardeau in the Marennes-Oléron basin, Maison Gillardeau is renowned for the quality of its oysters, cultivated through a centuries-old family commitment.

In response to growing worldwide demand for its special oysters, the company has opened a number of oyster beds since 2004 in pristine European locations. Gillardeau’s special oysters are bred in the rich waters of Ireland, Normandy and Portugal for optimum growth, fleshiness and taste. To guarantee this quality to the finest tables, the laser engraving of Gillardeau oysters, to combat counterfeiting, has consolidated the brand and confirmed Maison Gillardeau as a benchmark.

Constantly striving for innovation, developments have included a modern food truck, “La Marcelle”, and a sales and tasting outlet on the Île de Ré, “La Cabanajam”.
